A one- time House Of Representatives Aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC in 2015 for Owo/Ose federal constituency in Ondo State, Hon. Nuel Ola Elehinle, has said that only restructuring of Nigeria will take the country out of various challenges facing her since independence.
Elehinle, who was speaking at the weekends in a telephone interview with our correspondent, said “since the military was the architect of the system we are practising ,then that there should be room for amendment of the Constitution and adjustment to things that are no longer acceptable to the modern day system, thereby restructuring should be allowed”.
According to the political bigwig, Nigerians are actually clamouring for a better and affordable system of government that will make every section of the country workable.
The APC chieftain noted that, “the system we operate in Nigeria was designed and packaged for us by Military administrations, mostly during Gowon’s era which requires us changing many things and adopt some. So many things are wrong in Nigeria which we all know and aware of”.
Elehinle emphasized that the agitation of some Afenifere chieftains like Chief Olu falae, and other political leaders on the issue of restructuring should be considered while the 2014 CONFAB report should be reconsidered by the government for implementation.
The Ipele-born philanthropist who has been commended by many for his humanitarian services, explained that his kind gestures to the less privileged was part of steps to alleviate sufferings of the masses.
Elehinle therefore urged the rich in the society to bring about innovations and ideas that could bring the poor out of poverty and make their lives meaningful.
